Question:
The casino being built in Singapore is supposed to be a money-maker and job creator. However, many people have spoken against it. Talk to a parent or adult and get their view on the casino. Listen to the NPR and YouTube offerings and choose one that substantiates your viewpoint and include a quote from it as well. Your blog entry has to be at least 200 words and you must either support the casino or condemn its construction and ultimately the hardships it will cause in Singapore.
From what I have heard, I believe I would support the building of the Casino.
I quote my Mother, she said that:
"Building a Casino during a time of Financial Crisis can help Singapore. Singapore relies rather heavily on tourism income, which has been declining during times of Financial Crisis. However, if the Casino was built, it would attract tourists to Singapore and possibly boost Singapore's economy."
I do agree with her, since Casinos- such as the one in Genting Highland- have proven to be rather effective in attracting tourists.
Although I support the construction of the Casino, I have to say that this video is rather relevant to this discussion. Casinos may be good to the society as a whole, but may be bad to certain individuals that are unable to resist their urges with a personal motto of: "Just one more try". This motto has led many gamblers to bankrupcy and has proven to be the motto of a fair sum of gamblers.
However, I do not see how not building the Casino can possibly reduce the amount of such gamblers. The casino has nothing with the amount of these gamblers.
If its the gamblers who decide to gamble their life away- deciding that the motto "Just one more try" is a fair one- is the cause of disagreement of the building the the casino, there is nothing more to discuss.
The casino is not at fault. Like I have said, inanimate objects cannot have Sins, only human beings can possibly bear Sins. Blame the gamblers for gambling their life away, not the Casino for providing them the facilities to do so.
