I believe that the story this book might not even have happened 200 years ago. There were no televisions back then, as far as I know; they only came into existance around the early 1900s. If I ended the question like so, there wouldn't be any reason why I chose to this question. Now then, let's see why this didn't happen because televisions did not exist. Simply put, because such things were normally done for money or experience. In the case of one of the families involved, it was for money. Why would the media pay the families money for being in this show? Its for entertainment, obviously. When it comes to entertainment for certain countries, it usually involved humiliation, and that's what this television show wanted- the participants to be humiliated so their ratings would go up. This was, however, not the form of entertainment 200 years ago. So there is no reason why this would occur at all 200 years ago, no?
The conclusion? This wouldn't happen.
The conclusion? This wouldn't happen.
The character I am describing is Toby, the other kid involved in the television programme.
A picture to describe him:

Need I emphasise perfection? I know this character is impossible but its a story for heaven's sake!
If given the choice, I would change the part of the story were the greatest humiliation occurred; Jiggy McCue was going for a swim the in almost-olympic-sized swimming pool. He had not brought his swimming trunks and thus had to wear the pair Toby- the boy whom he had swapped families with- wore. However, he accidentally wore another pair left behind by one of Toby's friends- a rather huge kid- and the swimming trunks somehow slipped off when he went for the swim. Naturally, he was embarrassed. But not to the normal extent of embarrasment. It was to an extent that was far beyond any he had ever experienced. That's saying a lot, since he had once had some weird problems (he mad many weird problems) and he had lost all his clothes in the public in one. To make matters worse, he was still on camera. That is actually one of the only parts I wish to change, as I feel the rest of the story is rather fine, just weird at some points.
I really pity the main character at this point. It is not very desirable for something like this to go on national television. Although the only one hurt is the main character, I really pity him. To have to endure such things for his parents- for it was them who had signed him up for the television program- is rather sad. Thus, I hope to abolish this little incident completely if I could, since I would have pretty much went crazy after such an incident. It just doesn't seem fair to him.
